We offer comprehensive estate planning to individuals and their families, including preparing wills, trusts, powers of attorneys and advanced medical directives.  These important documents help people plan ahead for their families, and can save them from having to go through difficult and costly legal battles over assets and inheritances.  A properly prepared power of attorney or advance medical directive (sometimes called a living will) will allow your loved ones or other appointed agent to act on your behalf when you cannot do so for yourself.  When these documents are lacking, we can help petition the court for a guardianship or conservatorship if a family member has become incapacitated.

Even with proper planning, the process of administering an estate or going through probate can be challenging.  Our attorneys serve as your guides during this difficult time, representing you at any hearings or simply helping you navigate a fiduciary matter from start to finish.

On occasion, it may become necessary to seek to remove an executor or administrator, revoke a power of attorney, or defend against a guardianship or conservatorship action.  Sometimes these cases are best decided by a judge, and in those cases we will zealously advocate on your behalf.  Other times, our mediators can help reach a compromise and bring peace to a family conflict or other disagreement about estate matters.

We practice primarily in the Circuit Courts, General District Courts, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts of Northern Virginia, including Fairfax County, Prince William County, Arlington County, Loudoun County, and the City of Alexandria.  We represent clients in Alexandria, Annandale, Arlington, Ashburn, Centreville, Chantilly, Falls Church, Fairfax, Great Falls, Herndon, Leesburg, Manassas, McLean, Oakton, Reston, Springfield, Sterling, Tysons Corner, and Vienna.
